This one's good too... [Aug. 21st, 2008|11:03 pm]

"The conclusion is quite clear. Our moon exists for us on Earth, not for the other globes. Those four little moons exist for Jupiter, not for us. Each planet in turn, together with its occupants, is served by its own satellites. From this line of reasoning we deduce with the highest degree of probability that Jupiter is inhabited."

Recipe [Apr. 30th, 2008|12:12 am]

I had a sort-of vague intention of posting on this a bit more often, but it hasn't really happened. However, I feel this evening's pudding (devised by my housemate) must be shared with the world:

1. Place one finger-sized piece of cheddar cheese in a bowl.
2. Add rhubarb jam.
3. Enjoy.

It really was delicious - thoroughly recommended.

Stories [Apr. 10th, 2008|11:06 pm]

So, I'm about to get involved (in the loosest possible way) in an arts project in Sandwell (part of the West Midlands conurbation) involving very short stories. Apparantly, Hemingway claimed you could write a story in only six words, and illustrated his point very poignantly:

For sale: baby shoes, never worn.

I haven't managed to come up with one of my own yet, but the idea is intriguing.

Any offers?

This LiveJournal is turning into a list of quotes which have amused me. The latest is from the National Literacy Trust's e-news-mail-thingy, which begins:

"Having trouble reading this email?"

Lol, I've just caught myself looking at Girton on Google Earth. I followed a link to a picture of Huntingdon Road and thought I'd better check up on it.

Who remembers the Big Dress? SPEAK's creative petition for Trade Justice and workers' rights in the clothing industry. It was here in May Week 2006, and now it's hit YouTube, with extensive footage from Cambridge!

I like this joke. [Jul. 17th, 2007|12:05 am]

"An extrapolation of its present rate of growth reveals that in the not too distant future Physical Review will fill bookshelves at a speed exceeding that of light. This is not forbidden by relativity, since no information is being conveyed."

Tea-hee [May. 4th, 2007|01:08 pm]

It seems I have a tea fairy who works through the ICMS. If you read my LJ thank you, whoever you are :)

And for the amusement of everyone else, I'd like to tell you that the tea is called "clarity". I think the person who sent it must have read my write-up and thinks I could use some help!
